Vision and Goals for Moorestown Science Education

Students attending Moorestown Township Public Schools will be immersed in a coherent science curriculum that has been developed by our experienced faculty and based upon the best practices in science education.  Our course curriculum expands upon the Next Generation Science Standards, allowing our students to explore topics more completely using scientific and engineering practices that will enable them to become deep thinkers and problem solvers destined to be integral members of our community.

More specifically, after graduating from Moorestown, ours students will be able to:
  • think critically
  • ask appropriate questions
  • design solutions to problems
  • defend conclusions from evidence/data
  • design and test an experiment/product
  • make connections within the K-12 science curriculum and between science and other disciplines (Math, ELA, Fine & Industrial Arts, and the Humanities)
  • make scientific connections with their community and the larger world
  • learn from mistakes
  • persevere through failure
  • take appropriate risks

Students will experience The Moorestown Science Program through:

  • fun and creative lessons
  • hands-on laboratory experiences
  • real world phenomena and scenarios
  • the use of technology
  • cooperative learning
  • simulations and virtual labs
  • connections with real scientists
  • student centered discovery and exploration
  • STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts Math) based lessons and activities
